Sony has made things since 1946, and few companies have shaped how people listen and watch as much: the Walkman, the Trinitron, the CD with Philips, and the camera sensors inside most smartphones — including ones made by its competitors.

It is a film studio, a music label, one of the largest games publishers in the world, and a maker of professional cinema cameras. PlayStation is its best-known line and has sold more consoles than any other family in the industry.
