About the Starlink Ethernet Adapter (Gen 2)

Starlink's own adapter for the rectangular-dish kit. It clips in between the dish cable and the Gen 2 router and gives you one Ethernet port, so you can plug in a UniFi gateway, a switch, a PC or a TV box at up to 1 Gbps instead of relying on the router's Wi-Fi.

Function
  • Purpose: connect a device directly to the Starlink Router for a wired connection (Starlink's own wording)
  • Adds: one RJ45 Ethernet LAN port to the Gen 2 router
  • Speed: up to 1 Gbps
  • Fitting: in-line between the Starlink cable and the router; plug and play
Compatibility (from Starlink)
  • Works with: Rectangular Starlink — the Gen 2 router supplied with the Standard Actuated and High Performance kits
  • Not needed on: Starlink Standard (kickstand, Gen 3), Performance Gen 1 and Gen 2, Router 3 and Router Mini — those already have Ethernet
  • Required for: using a third-party router or mesh behind a Gen 2 Starlink router (bypass mode)
  • Expandable: a network switch can be connected to the adapter if more than one port is needed

You will also need
  • A Gen 2 Starlink router — i.e. the Standard Actuated (rectangular dish) kit or a High Performance kit with the Gen 2 router. It does nothing on Gen 3 / kickstand, Mini, or Performance kits.
  • An RJ45 Cat5e or better Ethernet cable, bought separately.
  • An Ethernet switch if the customer needs more than one wired port.
  • Bypass mode via the Starlink app if the customer is putting their own router behind it.
  • An active Starlink service subscription (the adapter itself needs no subscription or SIM).
