Starlink is SpaceX's satellite internet network. Rather than running a cable to a building, it talks to thousands of satellites in low orbit — close enough that the connection behaves like ordinary broadband instead of the slow, lagging satellite internet of a decade ago.

It is the largest satellite constellation ever launched, and it serves homes, businesses, ships, aircraft and emergency responders in most countries on earth. It has repeatedly been the first connectivity restored after earthquakes and hurricanes.

It is the answer where a line has never been run, or where the line that exists is not good enough: a site upcountry, a lodge, a farm, a house the fibre never reached.
